About Us
The Center for Aging & Disability Education & Research (CADER) is a nationally recognized training and research center, located at Boston University’s School of Social Work.
The rapid aging of our population and a changing landscape for health and social services demand that organizations in the aging and disability field provide integrated, interprofessional, and person-centered care. That’s where we come in. CADER is dedicated to advancing the skills, knowledge, and competencies of this workforce and positively impacting the lives of older adults and people with disabilities. CADER’s mission includes: 1) Expanding access to high-quality, flexible, and affordable training; 2) Creating pathways for career advancement; and 3) Enhancing the skills of health and social service professionals so they can deliver high-quality care and services.

Since our founding in 2002 with a grant from The Atlantic Philanthropies, CADER has trained more than 50,000 practitioners and provided online training in the areas of aging and disability to more than 500 community-based agencies and state organizations nationwide.
Through collaborative partnerships, CADER is committed to strengthening the workforce that provides home and community-based support and services to older adults and people with disabilities through developing innovative, competency-based, practice-informed online training.
Our programs cover a wide range of subject areas and meet rigorous credentialing requirements for continuing education credits (CEs). Our trainings are relevant and applicable, providing expertise and knowledge derived from real-life experience and grounded in current research. Each offering is developed as a skill-based program, targeting specific competencies, and designed to be user-friendly.
