Dementia related behavioral symptoms are extremely common and can create significant daily stress for individuals living with dementia, their caregivers, and the professionals who support them. This training is designed to enhance the competence and confidence of older adult service providers by deepening their understanding of dementia-related challenging behaviors and strengthening their practical skills for effective responses.

Through interactive activities, case examples, and evidence-informed strategies, participants will build greater comfort, knowledge, and skill in recognizing, assessing, and managing challenging behaviors in ways that promote dignity, safety, and connection.

Objectives

At the end of this training, participants will be able to

  1. Identify three common dementia related challenging behaviors
  2. Describe three causes of dementia related challenging behaviors
  3. Explore and identify two common approaches to managing dementia related challenging behaviors
  4. Identify two effective strategies and interventions for dementia related behaviors
