AGE Fundamentals of Supervision Certificate

The Fundamentals of Supervision Certificate is a three-course program designed to support supervisors in building strong teams and effective organizations. This certificate equips you with core knowledge, practical skills, and decision-making tools you can apply directly to your day-to-day supervisory work. Across all three courses, we emphasize equity, cultural responsiveness, and ethical practice. You’ll engage with practical templates, case-based learning, and action-focused exercises. In the certificate, you’ll focus on three key areas:

  • applied critical thinking for problem-solving
  • program planning and service delivery
  • foundational people management skills

The three courses that are part of this certificate are:

  • Supervisor Essentials I: Building Organizational Capacity: Supervisory Practice and Planning – The first course looks at supervision from a systems perspective. You’ll explore your role within organizational structures, focus on strategic and implementation planning, and learn how to align team activities with broader program goals.
  • Supervisor Essentials II: Core Management Skills: Leading People and Teams – The second course focuses on supervisory skills, such as communication, performance management, coaching and feedback, team building, conflict management, and strategies to support staff wellbeing and retention.
  • Supervisor Essentials III: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving in Supervisory Practice – In this course, you’ll learn methods for analyzing challenges and ethical dilemmas, with a focus on how your choices as a supervisor impact staff, clients, and organizations.

This certificate will launch on February 9, 2026.
