Aging Services Program Management and Planning Certificate (3-course/7-CE program)
Strengthen your leadership, management, and program development skills with this certificate program designed for professionals in human services and aging network organizations. Required Courses
Human Services Management – This course helps current and emerging leaders develop the skills needed to effectively manage and lead human service organizations. Participants will explore leadership strategies for navigating complex challenges, working collaboratively with staff, and building adaptive organizations that balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while advancing their mission.
Program Planning – This course introduces the fundamental skills needed to plan, implement, and evaluate effective interventions in human services settings. Participants will learn strategies for analyzing problems, making informed decisions, and developing systematic work plans to address identified needs and improve outcomes.
Volunteer Engagement – Volunteers play a vital role in supporting services for older adults and advancing an organization’s mission. This course provides practical strategies for recruiting, engaging, and managing volunteers effectively, helping organizations strengthen their volunteer workforce and expand their impact in the community.
Behavioral Health in Aging Certificate (5-course/19-CE program)
This five-course certificate program provides professionals with the knowledge and skills to address the behavioral health needs of older adults. Topics include mental health, suicide prevention, substance use, dementia care, and supporting older immigrants and refugees. Participants gain practical, person-centered strategies to promote mental wellness and enhance the well-being of older adults and their caregivers.
Required Courses
Mental Health and Aging Issues – This course provides health and human service professionals with an overview of common mental health concerns affecting older adults and practical strategies for recognizing and responding to their needs. Participants will learn how to apply a strengths-based approach that builds on an individual’s abilities and resilience, supporting recovery through appropriate intervention and referral.
