US News & World Report: Professor Bronwyn Keefe Shares Advice on Healthy Summer Activities for Retirees

The aging population often faces unique mental health challenges, including isolation and loneliness. Senior centers can be excellent resources for older adults seeking support for these behavioral health concerns.

In a recent article in U.S. News & World Report, Bronwyn Keefe, director of the Center for Aging and Disability Education and Research and research associate professor at Boston University School of Social Work, explains how older adults can access free programs and services through their local senior centers.

“’There have been focused efforts across the country to revamp and modernize senior centers as the go-to destination for older adults,’ Keefe said in an email.

Senior centers may organize day trips, hold dances, offer game tournaments and host educational or craft workshops. In some areas, the local YMCA can be another source for these activities.”
