CADER Team Shares Expertise at 2025 GSA Scientific Meeting in Boston
Team members from the Center for Aging and Disability Education and Research (CADER) at Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) will present on timely research and cutting-edge workforce training initiatives at the 2025 Gerontological Society of America’s Annual Scientific Meeting.
The premier national conference on aging and gerontology scholarship, GSA 2025, welcoming over 4500 participants, takes place from November 12 – 15 in Boston.

Strengthening the Aging Workforce: Building Sustainable Partnerships for Innovative, Skill-Based Training

Building Workforce Capacity to Deliver Effective Behavioral Health Support for Older Adults with Hoarding and Clutter

Prof. Bronwyn Keefe and BUSSW Prof. Jordana Muroff will speak about an online/in-person training on hoarding and clutter they implemented in partnership with a local Area Agency on Aging (AAA). After completing the training, learners felt more confident and comfortable working with clients with hoarding disorders, showcasing how high-quality training can strengthen hoarding-related services.
Enhancing Workforce Readiness for Aging and Disability Networks: A No Wrong Door State Training Initiative

Preparing Health Professional Health Professional Students for Home Visits: Leveraging Technology and Interprofessional Learning

Home visits are a key part of being a health and social service professional. However, students often do not receive hands-on, interprofessional training in class to prepare them for home assessments. In this session, learn how faculty from CADER, BUSSW, and the Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Science developed innovative online modules and a live session that guided students through AI-simulated scenarios of home environments and assessments for people with disabilities and older adults.
